Workplace ergonomics is the intentional arrangement of your workspace and office equipment to facilitate ease of use and prevent injury. You can also improve your workplace ergonomics by using the right office and safety equipment. If you’ve been Googling “chiropractor near me in Corpus Christi” because you’re in need of chiropractic care after a workplace injury, here are some easy changes you can make to your workstation to make it more ergonomic and improve your health and energy at work:

Rearrange Your Monitor and Keyboard

To prevent eye and neck strain, make sure your computer monitor is at eye level. Your keyboard should be on a table or keyboard tray that is at mid-chest level, so your wrist and hands are parallel to the table while typing. Use a wrist pad for added comfort.

Use an Adjustable Chair

An adjustable chair allows you to customize your lumbar support, neck support, chair height, seat level, and armrests. Adjust the height so your feet are flat on the floor. The chair’s seat should be tilted slightly downwards to take pressure off your lower back. Sit with your back against the back of the chair. Adjust or remove the armrests as needed to maintain proper typing posture.

Put Frequently Used Items at Arm’s Reach

You can lessen your risk of repetitive stress injuries and aches and pains by putting frequently used items at arm’s reach. This means less bending, lifting, reaching, and straining to reach supplies or use office equipment.

Take Necessary Breaks

Try to take breaks every hour or so to stretch and reduce eye strain and back pain. If you can’t take breaks, consider using a standing desk so that you can choose whether to sit or stand while working.

Use the Correct Safety Equipment and Procedures

Always use the correct safety equipment and safety procedures when operating machinery or office equipment. This will significantly cut down on your risk of office accidents and injuries and will ensure you aren’t at fault if an accident does occur.
